TFA has enthusiastically taken on a significant challenge related to the Italian food sector: managing a wide range of isolated machines, each performing essential tasks but beyond the reach of a centralized system. In a constantly evolving food industry, the need for flawless production control is crucial.

With Connext, the OPC UA server, the transformation was remarkable. By connecting 32 machines to the MES system, we saw a significant improvement in production control. The elimination of manual processes made production more efficient, while data logging and historical tracking enhanced reporting capabilities.

The main challenge was to connect heterogeneous machines with individual programmable logic controllers (PLCs) quickly and efficiently. The choice of Connext proved successful, thanks to its openness and versatility in supporting numerous industrial protocols.

To ensure virtually continuous operation, Connext was implemented in a redundant configuration. In addition to being an OPC UA server, Connext offers historian and data logger functionalities, providing a reliable local backup for all data exchanged between the MES system and the Connext solution.

Thanks to Connext's advanced integration features and ease of deployment, implementation was quick and efficient, with minimal downtime. The platform has proven to be the ideal choice for continuous, uninterrupted data collection management, consolidating control over production and opening new perspectives for the future.
